Write A Poem

Journal Prompt Friday: Write a Poem!

Poem and article by Cassandra Barbosa

Happy Friday!

I am living for these cool, fall mornings. Stevie Nicks season is my absolute favorite season…  As you sit with your morning coffee, tea, bowl of cereal (whatever your routine is), I would like to invite you to write about this seasonal change. Poetry is a great method to release creativity and dig deep into your emotions. The change of seasons is always significant, but I look forward to fall most of all (so much so I named my daughter, Autumn). What feelings does fall bring you? Do you love the colors? The cool air? Maybe there’s something you don’t like about fall… What stirs those emotions? Writing your thoughts on a physical piece of paper is a great way to help process feelings that don’t always bring happiness. Below you will find a poem I wrote this morning as I stepped outside and was greeted by a familiar feeling. I made a blank copy for you to write your own poem! I would love to read your poems, so don’t forget to share…

Fall Feelings

by Cassandra Barbosa

A cool breeze hits my skin,

A feeling so strong, it feels like sin.

Nostalgia chills me to the bone,

I close my eyes, and I am home.

Decorations on the window sill,

My bucket sits for me to fill.

Mom lights a candle, I still smell it too,

I will always remember, West 4th Avenue.

Happy journaling,

Critter Cass
